China – The Great Wall

The Great Wall of China is one of the greatest wonders of the world.

It snakes across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus, stretching approximately 13,170 miles (21,196 kilometers) from east to west of China. It has a history of over 2000 years and many of it’s section have now disappeared.

I had no idea how steep the Great Wall of China was in places.

At least you know you’ll never get lost on the Great Wall.

China – Wearing matching clothes – ‘Doublers’

While travelling around China we witnessed a very strange phenomena. The practice of couples and sometimes even entire families wearing the same t-shirts, shirts and sometimes even entire outfits. I understand it is meant to be a sign of affection and closeness.

We nicknamed purveyors of this odd practice ‘doublers’ and took great pleasure seeing how many ‘doublers’ we could spot as we were travelling around.

Here’s a few splendid examples of ‘doubling’ in action:

Hong Kong – A very expensive pint of the black stuff (for medicinal purposes)

Because Guinness is high in iron it’s important to consume as much as you can while you are on the road. It’s not always possible to get a decent pint in Asia but this bar in Hong Kong did serve an ice cold, creamy pint of Guinness. If I remember rightly it was about £6.50 (4 years ago) so it wasn’t cheap but it was worth it.

Please drink responsibly kids.

China – Trying to keep on top of things

It’s important to try and keep on top of your editing and organisation of your images.

Wherever I am in the world this is a nightly occurrence, sitting on the bed going through the photo’s i’ve taken that day.

I use Lightroom 6 nowadays to do light editing and image management.

I seem to have a rather large head of hair in this photo. Yes I am obsessed with my hair follicles.

China, Xian – Shooting the Terracota Warriors

Screen Shot 2016-02-05 at 17.42.32

Here I am shooting theTerracota Warriors in Xi’an – Shaanxi Province, China.

It really is a mind blowing attraction.

It’s estimated that there are more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses in the three pits. Other terracotta non-military figures were found in other pits, including officials, acrobats, strongmen and musicians.

I ended up going in high-season – try and avoid this if you can, it was mental and the noise was unbelievable as there were thousands of people there which marred my enjoyment slightly but nonetheless it is an incredible awe inspiring sight.
